August gets the attention and the headliners, but the European calendar runs to the end of December. There are still 95 festivals ahead of you across 25 countries — the Adriatic in September, Amsterdam and the indoor circuit in October, the jazz season in November, and Hogmanay to close it. Smaller crowds, lower prices, and in the south, better weather than you get in a British field in August.

The median ticket among those with a listed price is €75, against a range of €18 to €427. That is materially cheaper than the August peak.
The character of the calendar changes completely. Electronic music dominates the late season — 31 of the 68 — and it concentrates in two places: the Croatian and Greek coasts in September, then the northern European cities from October once the weather turns. Jazz is the other late-season genre, with nine festivals from October onwards.
One practical note before you book anything. Ticket prices are listed for 28 of these 68 records and unknown for 30; where a price is missing we say so on the card rather than guess. Always confirm dates and availability on the official site — late-season line-ups and on-sale dates move more than summer ones do.
September is the month the festival map moves south and east. Croatia and Greece between them hold ten of the month's forty-two events, and electronic music accounts for twenty. The weather on the Adriatic in early September is what August pretends to be in northern Europe, and the crowds are smaller.
