Search "best trance festivals Europe" and you'll get results that blur two audiences who rarely overlap. Psytrance festivals — O.Z.O.R.A., VooV Experience, Hadra Trance Festival, Own Spirit Festival, and (biennially) Boom Festival — are forest and field gatherings: multi-day camping, art installations, workshops, healing spaces, an ethos closer to a transformational festival than an EDM event. Commercial or "uplifting" trance festivals — Transmission Netherlands, AMF, Luminosity Beach Festival — are production-heavy, one-to-three-day events with elite touring DJs, built for spectacle rather than communion.
We've kept both in one guide because they share a genre label and readers searching for "trance" often haven't decided which scene they mean yet. But every card below is tagged clearly, and the two scenes almost never compete for the same weekend or the same traveller.
One honest gap: Boom Festival, arguably the most significant psytrance event in Europe, is biennial and doesn't run in 2026 — its next edition is July 2027. It's included here because it's worth planning a full year ahead for, not because you can book it this summer.
Portugal's biennial psytrance and arts gathering on the shores of the Marechal Carmona reservoir, held in odd years only — there's no 2026 edition. The 2027 event is the 16th and marks 30 years, and it's known as much for its art, sustainability and wellbeing programme as for the music. 30,000 capacity, camping included. Lisbon airport is 260km away, so budget for the transfer.
Hungary's legendary nine-day psychedelic arts and music festival in Dádpuszta — five stages spanning psytrance, progressive, downtempo and world music, 150+ artists including Shpongle Live, Astrix and Hilight Tribe. 28,000 capacity, camping included with the €320 ticket. Budapest is the airport gateway, with a shuttle from Simontornya to the site.
One of Europe's original psytrance festivals, running since 1994 at the Field of Joy near Putlitz — four days of high-energy psytrance, progressive and full-on, with legendary laser shows and UV-reactive decor. 10,000 capacity, camping included, halfway between Berlin and Hamburg. From €155, Berlin Brandenburg is the nearest airport.
France's largest psytrance festival, on a 25-hectare lakeside site in central France, in its 17th edition for 2026. 72 hours of uninterrupted music across four stages spanning psytrance, downtempo, techno, drum and bass and ambient, with 170+ artists. Camping is included in every pass. From €190, 10,000 capacity, with Clermont-Ferrand the nearest airport.
A transformational psytrance festival on the shore of the Santa Ana Reservoir in Aragon, running since 2015. Combines psytrance, full-on, progressive and forest programming with a healing area, conscious workshops, a family zone and genuine ecological practice — smaller and more intentional than the bigger names on this list. No capacity or price published at the time of writing; it's a remote, car-dependent location, so plan the transfer from Zaragoza in advance.
A one-day indoor trance spectacular at the GelreDome arena — the Netherlands debut of a brand that originated in Prague and has built a reputation as the world's finest dedicated trance event. 27,500 capacity, no camping, built entirely around immersive storytelling, laser and light production, and elite touring trance DJs across a single room. This is the purest big-room trance experience in this guide.
A one-night, 40,000-capacity EDM arena event held on the closing Saturday of Amsterdam Dance Event — trance is a strong presence rather than the exclusive genre. 2026 headliners include Afrojack, Armin van Buuren, David Guetta and Amelie Lens. If you want trance specifically without the broader EDM framing, Transmission is the purer choice; AMF is the bigger, more varied night.
An uplifting and progressive trance festival at Beachclub Bernie's in Zandvoort, running across classic-era and current trance programming. The 2026 lineup includes Paul van Dyk, Aly & Fila, Andrew Rayel and Ferry Corsten — a genuine cross-section of trance eras rather than a single-generation bill. No camping; Zandvoort's own station puts it within easy reach of Amsterdam.

If what appeals is a single spectacular night with elite DJs and heavy production, you want Transmission Netherlands, AMF or Luminosity Beach Festival. The genre name "trance" is the least useful signal here; the format tells you far more about whether you'll enjoy yourself.
VooV Experience isn't the only long-running German psytrance event — Indian Spirit Festival (Eldena, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, late August, from €178, 15,000 capacity) and Waldfrieden Wonderland (Stemwede-Wehdem, NRW, early August, from €185, 15,000 capacity) both run at similar scale with similar community-and-sustainability ethos. Neither made the eight-festival cut here, but both are worth knowing about if VooV's dates don't work for your calendar — ask the concierge for details on either.
Boom only runs in odd years, which means anyone planning around it needs to think eighteen months ahead rather than the usual six. Its 2027 edition (18–25 July) is the 16th and marks the festival's 30th anniversary — a genuinely significant milestone in European psytrance history. If 2026 is your year to attend a major psytrance event, O.Z.O.R.A. or Hadra Trance Festival are the closest equivalents running this summer.
Pricing gaps: half the festivals in this guide — Own Spirit, Transmission Netherlands, AMF and Luminosity Beach Festival — hadn't published 2026 ticket prices at the time of writing. That's more common for newer or single-night events than for the established multi-day psytrance festivals, all of which have published pricing well in advance.
